Other adult mental health consumers may be seen for short-term, goal-oriented therapy and psychotropic medication. This is a more intermediate level of care for consumers needing individual or family therapy to assist them on a short-term basis. Consumers who only require low frequency contacts and medication maintenance are seen primarily by a nurse and psychiatrist for education concerning their illness, importance of medication compliance, and support. The nurse is also responsible for monitoring side effects and coordinating the care for consumers with physical health problems.

Outpatient services are offered at four locations across DeKalb County including North DeKalb Mental Health Center, Winn Way Mental Health Center, The Kirkwood Center and Clifton Springs Mental Health Center.
