DeKalb Community Service Board Awarded
Three-year CARF Accreditation

DECATUR, Georgia - CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) announced that DeKalb Community Service Board (CSB) has been accredited for a period of three years for its mental health, developmental disabilities and addiction programs and services. This is the first accreditation that the international accrediting commission has awarded to the DeKalb CSB. The DeKalb CSB has been accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations since 1999.
This accreditation outcome represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization's substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors that its programs and services are measurable, accountable and of the highest quality.

CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.

The DeKalb CSB is a public agency, a public corporation and an instrumentality of the State of Georgia, and is created pursuant to OCGA § 37-2-6 et seq. to provide mental health, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases services.
