National Mental Health Association of Georgia Selects New Board
Member from DeKalb County
DECATUR, Georgia - Joseph R. Bona, MD, MBA, the Medical and Clinical
Director of the DeKalb Community Service Board (CSB), was recently
elected to the Board of Directors for the National Mental Health
Association (NMHA) of Georgia.
NMHA is the country´s oldest and largest nonprofit organization
addressing all aspects of mental health and mental illness. With
more than 340 affiliates nationwide, NMHA works to improve the mental
health of all Americans through advocacy, education, research and
service. The vision of NMHA of Georgia is that all Georgians will
have access to culturally competent and appropriate mental health
services and information including prevention, early intervention,
treatment and recovery.
"I am honored to be associated with an organization that advocates
for access and excellence of service to the mentally ill in Georgia.
I have long admired the work of the NHMA," commented Dr. Bona.
In addition to his position with the DeKalb CSB, Dr. Bona is an
Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Emory University,
Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science. He received his
medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo
School of Medicine and completed his residency in psychiatry at
Duke University Medical Center. He is board certified in psychiatry
and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
He also earned a master's degree in business administration from
the University of South Florida's School of Business. Dr. Bona serves
on the Georgia Department of Community Health's Georgia Drug Utilization
Board.

State of Georgia, provides mental health, developmental disabilities
