New Board Members Appointed to
the DeKalb Community Service Board

DECATUR, Georgia - Four new board members were appointed to the DeKalb Community Service Board (CSB). Ms. Julie Han, Ms. Yvonne (Bonnie) Steger, Jennifer Gould, M.D. and Paul Edmonds, Ph.D. each took their oath as public officers of the state at swearing in ceremonies conducted by DeKalb Probate Judge Jeryl Rosh at the DeKalb County Courthouse on April 3 and 4.

"As a new resident to DeKalb County, I look forward to the opportunity to serve as a member of the DeKalb Community Service Board," said Han.
Gould's passion for child psychology and mental healthcare initially sparked her interest in serving on the board. For the past fourteen years, this DeKalb County resident has worked in the mental health field and she currently serves as the Clinical Director of Hillside, a non-profit organization that serves children with behavioral healthcare needs. "Having worked in the mental health for many years, I am excited about the opportunity to be on the Board," said Gould.

As a retired mental health consumer advocate, Steger has a long history with the field of mental health. "I am honored to be in a position to make a big difference in DeKalb County," said Steger.

The DeKalb County Board of Health nominated the four members for reappointment at its January 26th meeting. The DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer Vernon Jones and the Board of Commissioners of DeKalb County reappointed them for membership at their meeting on March 28.

The DeKalb CSB is a public corporation and an instrumentality of the State of Georgia created to provide mental health, developmental disabilities and addictive diseases services. The public is invited to DeKalb CSB board meetings held in Room 421 of the EL Richardson Health Center, 445 Winn Way in Decatur. The next meeting will be Tuesday, September 20, 2005. For those with disabilities in need of assistance or accommodations to participate in the meeting, please notify the Office of Community Relations at (404) 508-7875.

To access behavioral health services, the DeKalb CSB has a single point of entry system called the Central Access line, 404-892-4646. Clinicians are available 24 hours per day, seven days per week for assessments, appointment scheduling, referrals and crisis calls.
