Flower Garden Planted at DeKalb CSB's CHOICE Program
DECATUR, Georgia -The DeKalb Community Service Board's
(CSB) CHOICE Program recently had volunteers come and help consumers
and staff to plant a flower garden in the green space inside the
privacy fence at CHOICE, located in Lithonia. A landscape designer
looked at the space and drew a design for everyone to follow. The
plants, trees,and flowers were donated through Home Depot. The two
wooden benches, bird feeders, and bird bath were donated by Garden
Ridge.
In other CHOICE news, Meels on Wheels and Senior Connections
invited staff to a volunteer training and on April 26. Each Wednesday,
a small group goes to Stonecrest Mall to work at Build-a-Bear. The
group makes and dresses the bears to be placed in the store for
display. In February, consumers and staff went to DD Day at the
Capitol. Some consumers and staff have been to Little Creek Horse
Farm to brush and feed the horses and participate in an arts/craft
activity with horse shoes. Consumers have attended Native
Hands: Basket Weaving and Booth Western Museum art exhibit
in Cartersiville. CHOICE continues to work at MedShare two days
a week.
CHOICE (Choosing Habilitation Opportunities in Community
Environments, is the first primarily community-based day habilitation
program for individuals with developmental disabilities at the DeKalb

has a Central Access line, 404-892-4646. Clinicians are available
for assessments, appointment scheduling, referrals and crisis calls.
