DEKALB COMMUNITY SERVICE BOARD
IMPLEMENTS NEW INTAKE UNIT
DECATUR, Georgia - The DeKalb Community Service Board (CSB) implemented
a new centralized Intake Services Unit at its Mental Health Outpatient
Clinic on Winn Way in Decatur. Operations of the clinic officially
began on March 3, 2008. The process of intake and assessment for
outpatient consumers entering the DeKalb CSB's service system was
redesigned to increase the agency's capacity to get consumers into
care much sooner. This new model is geared to increase available
intake appointments, decrease wait time and support consumer satisfaction.
The new program contains designated clinician and physician time
and permits the scheduling of approximately three hundred intake
assessments per week. These appointments are shared by our front
door (DeKalb CSB Central Access and the State's call center, GCAL).
Consumers are able to choose the location where they receive ongoing
services.
The DeKalb CSB is a public agency, a public corporation and an
instrumentality of the State of Georgia, and is created pursuant
to OCGA § 37-2-6 et seq. to provide mental health, developmental
disabilities, and addictive diseases services. The administrative
offices of the DeKalb CSB are located at 445 Winn Way in Decatur.
To access services of the DeKalb CSB, call (404) 892-4646. The DeKalb
CSB works cooperatively with consumers and their families to offer
services throughout DeKalb County.
