Jail
Diversion
The Jail Diversion
Treatment Program is based out of the DeKalb County Jail and works
with individuals challenged with mental illness and/or co-occurring
disorders in diverting them from jail to the community.
This is at the magistrate and state level and is for nonviolent misdemeanors
only.
The focus of
this program is to evaluate, develop a treatment diversion plan,
and link individuals to resources provided by the DeKalb CSB and
the community. A designated case manager follows the individual
to insure continuity and linkage to necessary community services.
Individuals in this program report to the court for a period of
three to six months. Upon graduation, a recommendation is made to
the court to dismiss the charges.
