In-Jail
Services
There are three
substance abuse programs for individuals while incarcerated in the
DeKalb County Jail who need or are mandated to jail based treatment.
STOP
(Substance Abuse Treatment Offender Program)
The STOP (Substance Abuse Treatment Offender Program) is a 90-day
intensive substance abuse treatment program. It follows the American
Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Level II criteria for intensive
outpatient services and has a Life Skills Component and Family Nights.
The
SMART Program (Start Making a Recovery Today)
The SMART Program (Start Making a Recovery Today) is a six month
residential substance abuse treatment program that not only includes
an intensive treatment curriculum but has a Life Skills Component
(GED classes, Chaplains, and AA/NA groups). This program is ASAM
Level III, residential services.
Relapse
Prevention Pod
The Relapse Prevention Pod has groups and programming with a less
intensive level for a target population as follows:
- Graduates
of STOP or SMART who are not released upon completing the program
- Previous
graduates of STOP or SMART who are back in jail for probation
violation or a new non-violent offense
- Graduate
of another inpatient substance abuse treatment program
- Drug Court
participants serving a jail sanction for violations of the Drug
Court Program rules
- Participants
in the pilot DUI Court program
- Community
Re-Entry and Discharge (CREAD) Program participants awaiting release
