Drug
Court
The DeKalb County
Superior Court Drug Court contracts with the DeKalb CSB to provide
intensive outpatient treatment and clinical evaluation services.
The Drug
Court Professional Treatment Services provides offenders an opportunity
to engage in treatment while living at home or in a substance abuse
residential setting instead of being incarcerated as long as they
follow the mandate of the court. Most participants had failed at previous
attempts at treatment in the community.
Program participants
are enrolled in a 5-phase outpatient treatment and counseling program
that includes weekly in-court review hearings; random drug screens;
and supportive programming to promote steady employment and vocational
rehabilitation, stable housing, family preservation or reunification
and involvement in the community.
Program graduation
requirements and after-care supervision may be completed in 16 to
24 months. The Drug Court Treatment Program follows American Society
of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Level II, intensive outpatient criteria.
