The DeKalb Regional Crisis Center is centrally located and provides
outpatient crisis assessments and interventions for consumers of
all ages and disabilities living in DeKalb, Fulton and Clayton counties.
The facility houses several services to promote Crisis services
being delivered
in the least restrictive environment possible. These include the
following levels of care: Psychiatric Emergency Services, Temporary
Observation Unit, Stabilization Unit, and the Mobile Crisis Unit.
Crisis Services are provided under the direction of the Director
of Crisis Services who is a clinical nurse specialist and the Crisis
Services Medical Director who is a Board Certified Psychiatrist.
Staff includes physicians, clinical nurse specialists, professional
counselors, registered nurses, and paraprofessionals. The DeKalb
Regional Crisis Center also employs a full time pharmacist, contracted
security officers, food service providers, and housekeeping staff.
The focus of
Crisis treatment is identifying factors that precipitated the crisis,
development of a treatment plan to manage the crisis or resolve
the situation, and linkage of the consumer to appropriate follow-up
care in a timely manner. Case coordination is required for the development
of appropriate referral, education of consumers regarding the importance
of continuing their care, and support of maximal independence in
their community.
