Child and Adolescent Day Treatment

Glenfair Day Treatment Program at Kirkwood
Children and adolescents ranging in age from five to seventeen are candidates for admission to the Glenfair Day Treatment program if they have demonstrated serious emotional and/or behavioral disturbance, and who are either at risk for psychiatric hospitalization, or involvement with the juvenile justice system, or who are "stepping down" from these most restrictive levels of intervention.

Glenfair Day Treatment is located at Kirkwood Mental Health Center. During the school year, this program runs Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM, and on Friday from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. During the summer months and holidays, the days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Children and their families are referred to day treatment either by their private therapist or case manager or directly following an evaluation or intake performed by a licensed clinician at any of the DeKalb CSB child and adolescent outpatient sites. The Glenfair Program includes a parent education component that requires the parent/guardian attend regularly scheduled staffings which are designed to review the child's progress toward meeting the day treatment goals.

All of the consumers' family or individual therapy needs are met within the Glenfair program, and provided by licensed mental health professionals with specialties in children and adolescents. Length of stay for this service can vary depending on the need of the consumer.
