Adolescent Substance Abuse Program

The adolescent substance abuse program has been designed as a five day per week, after-school day treatment program, serving adolescents from 13-17 years old.

The primary referral source for consumers has traditionally been Juvenile Court judges; however, referrals from other resources are equally considered and reviewed for eligibility. The primary site is The Kirkwood Center.

The hours of service delivery at the Kirkwood site are 3:00 PM until 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and include an experiential aspect that occurs on Saturdays (e.g., ropes courses at Project Adventure). Intakes are provided at the Kirkwood Center. Screenings can occur at other sites.

The target population is adolescents with a primary DSM IV diagnosis of substance use disorder, who do not have a developmental or psychiatric disorder which would prelude their ability to benefit from this program. Co-occurring treatment is integrated into the program.
