Adult
Services
The DeKalb CSB's behavioral health services focus on adults who have
a severe and persistent mental illness and/or who have significant
substance abuse/ addiction. There are specialized programs for older
adults through the HOPE PSR program at Kirkwood
Mental Health Center.
The DeKalb CSB operates four outpatient centers in DeKalb County that
include the North DeKalb Mental Health Center,
Winn Way Mental Health Center, The
Kirkwood Center and Clifton Springs
Mental Health Center. A substance abuse center, DeKalb
Addiction Center (DAC) is located in central DeKalb County and
a freestanding peer support center, Crossroads,
is located in south DeKalb County. Assuring that services are easily
accessible has always been a value of the DeKalb CSB and is reflected
in the widespread location of the facilities, the hours of services,
and flexibility in how services are provided.
The mental health/substance
abuse outpatient facilities are open five days per week from 8:15
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and all offer evening hours. Services offered
include diagnostic assessment, nursing assessment, nutritional assessments,
psychiatric medical services, individual, group, and family therapy.
The four centers have a pharmacy on site.
Each consumer
has an assessment provided by a licensed mental health professional.
Based on the assessment, the clinician refers adult mental health
consumers for nursing assessments as needed. A nursing assessment
and standard lab work is provided to substance abuse consumers.
All consumers see a physician for a psychiatric assessment. Following
the assessments, a level of care is determined based on the consumer's
individual needs, and a case manager is assigned.
